Monthly Salary Range: $63,800 - $92,500 depending upon qualifications (Grade 20)


POSITION SPECIFICS

Purpose of Position: Serves as a member of the Information Services team that provides technical support for NW Natural’s Windows servers.

Position Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Develops and maintains security policies, standards, guidelines and practices to protect the integrity, accuracy, confidentiality and recoverability of data and information on Windows systems.
2. Implements and maintains disaster recovery plans and practices for critical systems running on Windows.
3. Maintains awareness of the latest security threats, technologies and solutions, and leads the implementation of security “best practices.”
4. Builds and manages servers in a virtualized environment based on VMWare VSphere.
5. Maintains data storage in HP, EMC and Dell and NetApp environments.
6. Deploys software installations, updates and patches to servers, desktops and laptops.
7. Creates scripts in automating software deployments and changes to the Windows environment.
8. Implements and maintains group policies to manage client configurations and security.
9. Administers backups on Windows servers using EMC and Symantec products.
10. Manages Disaster Recovery practices with EMC Mirrorview, Avamar, and SRM.
11. Performs general Windows server administration and maintenance tasks.
12. Prepares and updates system configuration and security documentation.
13. Coordinates system maintenance with end users, developers, database administrators and other system administrators.
14. May require after hours support, as needed.

Position Qualifications (In addition to required job description elements provided below):
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent degree/experience.
• 3+ years experience as a Windows system administrator.
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft SCCM required.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical problems.
• Strong communication and documentation skills required.
• Ability to work effectively as a team member and cross-train teammates.
• Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical individuals.
• Understanding of the industry’s best practices for Windows security required.
• Strong mastery of Active Directory Group Policies strongly desired.
• Working knowledge and experience in administering Windows operating systems running in VMWare desired.
• Experience implementing and designing a Storage Area Network strongly desired.
• Scripting experience (VBScript, PowerShell, DOS batch files) strongly desired.

General Purpose
Conducts analysis, creates system specifications, develops, tests and/or implements engineering, scientific and business applications, operating systems, security systems, and/or file/database servers. Utilizes existing or new technology in the automation of processes. Evaluates software packages and provides recommendations to management.

Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related field, or equivalent combination of education and technical experience resulting in proven systems skills.

Special Requirements
May require travel.
Discipline: Systems Administration
Activities related to the analysis, development, installation and modification and ongoing administration of complex mainframe, mini, and server operating and network systems including providing technical support, diagnosing and resolving complex system problems.
Level: 2
Under general supervision performs moderately complex assignments requiring analysis, integration and creativity.
