Summary

The Circulation Supervisor (Library & Archives Paraprofessional 4) is responsible for management of all aspects of the Library’s Fort Steilacoom Circulation Department, including supervision of students, stacks maintenance, fines and fees, and the safety/overall condition of the library public spaces. This position oversees the general safety and overall condition of the facility, assuring that it is ready for student engagement as well as planning to meet the needs of the department. The Circulation Supervisor is responsible for supervision of the evening Circulation Assistant and student workers. The Circulation Supervisor works to accomplish the primary objective of serving college students/faculty/staff and public users by insuring smooth operation of the various activities of the department. This position reports to the Dean of Libraries and Institutional Effectiveness.

Essential Functions:
Circulation: Maintain circulation operations and library facilities; used advanced features of the Voyager circulation and reserves module; resolve client questions, accounts and complaints; maintain communication and coordinate the operation of the department with other departments; monitor and oversee stacks maintenance for accuracy, space allotment, safety, security, and cleanliness; coordinate courier deliveries with the Puyallup campus Circulation Supervisor.
Supervision and Training: Interview and recommend selection of applicants; conduct training; supervise students with annual inventory, shelf reading, and shifting of the collections; create and monitor schedules and employee hours; insure compliance with college personnel policies and filing of appropriate forms; approve monthly timesheets and monitor employee hours.
Reporting: Maintain circulation statistics and prepare daily, quarterly and annual reports.
Foster an Environment of Student Responsibility & Student Access: Resolve client issues and concerns using judgment to seek solutions that balance student responsibility, student access to registration and grades, maximum cost recovery and greatest return of materials; negotiate options with students regarding outstanding debts; track all fines and fees, print and mail notices, update the Student Management System (SMS); interpret and ensure compliance with college and library department policies and procedures.
Policies & Procedures: Recommend changes in work flow, organization, policies and procedures to facilitate excellent customer service and maximum cost efficiently; develop policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective operation of the department and maximum collaboration and consistency between the two college libraries.
Equipment & Supplies: Maintain and order supplies as necessary; analyze equipment needs for circulation department and library and recommend purchases; monitor equipment; report repairs to the Media Services Department; maintain photocopy machines in the library, including all supplies, calls for service, and monthly meter readings.
Other Duties: Identify and communicate with appropriate persons regarding building security and maintenance concerns; assure safety, security, and cleanliness of the library; provide reference desk assistance as needed; participate in the governance and committee work of the libraries and the colleges in order to advance our collective work and the mission of the library; perform other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment
This is a full-time (40 hours per week) overtime eligible position located at Pierce College Fort Steilacoom (Lakewood). The tentative schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 9 am to 6 pm or 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Schedule is flexible.
