Job Description
Stimson Lumber Company is one of the oldest continuously operating forest products companies in the United States. The company has an immediate opening for a MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR at its mill in Forest Grove, Oregon. Successful candidate will be responsible for providing a safe environment through a continuous improvement culture that produces a high quality product with emphasis on product value, profitability, and cost management. This is a fast paced 24/7 production plant environment which will require very good planning and communication skills. This person will need to challenge their direct reports to grow into and beyond their positions. Quality, safety, environmental and production will need to be challenged by analyzing and fostering a Continuous Improvement Program through project justification, goal setting, cause and effect, evaluation, process completion and follow up.




Skill Requirements
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES include:
-Lead by example and hold employees accountable for unsafe work practices.
-Take an equal responsibility to prioritize, plan and schedule completion of all items identified in quarterly safety audit.
-Continually communicate a comprehensive, interactive safety meeting that targets and identifies behaviors and hazards.
-Maintain and improve the PM/TPM program with maintenance and operations.
-Basic understanding of both mechanical and electrical systems and processes.
-Be interactive in maintenance meetings and production meetings, measuring the group as one entity.
-Improve on current spare parts inventory management and storage.
-Improve labor costs through effective shift schedules to minimize overtime.
-Monitor and track supplies, expenses, and repairs.
-Communicate clearly both vertically and horizontally, including daily communication with crew on safety, quality and job expectations.
-Provide annual job performance evaluations.
-Learn quickly and demonstrate ability to quickly and proficiently understand and absorb new information.
-Have the ability to see a problem and come up with a solution that elevates normal thoughts.
-Expect personal performance and team performance to be nothing short of the best

WORK AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS include:
-Minimum of five years maintenance supervisory skills and strong preventative maintenance experience.
-Possess strong leadership and team work skills with employees and other departments.
-Possess a background of successful safety performance;
-Ability to read blue prints;
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-Ability to troubleshoot and have knowledge of plant equipment.
-Must have budget experience and knowledge of MS Office.
-Programming experience, LME or better is desirable.
