Job Description
Stimson Lumber Company is one of the oldest, continuously operating forest products companies in the United States. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Primary finance partner providing accounting services for a mill site or multiple sites; function as a pro-active and teamwork oriented finance partner with the mill management team providing the necessary tools and data to assist in the management of the operation - including financial analysis (profit and loss statements, forecasts, and annual budgets, etc) and other financial advice and education to help drive sound business decisions; develop, analyze, and interpret statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the plant; manage the general ledger of plant, including a regular review and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts; communicate/educate mill manager and supervisors on accounting policies and procedures; visit plants that are supported at least monthly and participate as schedules permit in plant management supervisory and other meetings; effectively interfaces with other accounting team members and activities to ensure that the Company’s compliance standards, policies and procedures are effectively implemented within the business unit; audit log and lumber inventories; and other accounting duties as required.

Skill Requirements
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES include: Strong analytical skills and working knowledge of accounting principles and practices; experience in all facets of the monthly close process including financial statement preparation and associated general accounting requirements; experience as a finance business partner with strong influence and team player skills; advanced Excel and general ledger skills; excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to multi-task, work effectively in a fast paced working environment, and meet deadlines as necessary.

WORK AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS include: Bachelor’s degree in accounting/business or equivalent experience/education: minimum of three years experience in accounting. SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST PASS A DRUG SCREEN.
