JOB SUMMARY
Under direction of the Accounting Manager, performs professional accounting work, including auditing, analyzing and verifying fiscal records and reports, preparing financial and statistical reports, preparing monthly invoices for services; providing information to Directors, Program Managers, Program Supervisors, and Board regarding agency finances, and reconciling general ledger accounts; prepares year-end audit reports and schedules.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
•Review claim data for monthly invoices, and troubleshoot claim problems.
•Prepare claim batches, for submission to payors in electronic and paper formats.
•Submits claims through electronic portals to mental health organizations and state MMIS system, as well as private insurance companies.
•Troubleshoots billing claim denials, resolves issues internal and external to the agency and resubmits claims for payment.
•Records monthly revenue in Great Plains.
•Bills patient responsibility portions, and coordinates benefit billing for clients.
•Follows through on accounts receivable issues, maintains clear records of accounts receivable work, and coordinates with other staff to problem solve outstanding AR.
•Performs payroll journal entry from ADP and Human Resources.
•Reconciles monthly benefit detail, and maintains pension benefit database.


• Two (2) years bookkeeping or accounting experience. Great Plains accounting software a plus.
• Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles and GAAP.
• Knowledge of the preparation of financial statements.
• Ability to problem solve billing and accounting issues.
• Strong attention to details.
• Skill in analyzing, preparing, checking and balancing routine fiscal transactions and accounts.
• Skill in designing spreadsheet and utilizing word processing and database software.
• Demonstrated ability to work with people in a customer services oriented position.

Skill Requirements
REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Formal Education: Associate’s Degree in Accounting. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business preferred.
Specific Training Courses: Experience in medical billing preferred.
Other: License/Certification: Current Oregon/Washington driver’s license in good standing.

Knowledge & Experience:
