Telecare will be opening a 5-bed Residential Treatment Home in Deschutes County that will serve clients consumers with serious mental illness who are ready to transition to community-based living. POSITION OBJECTIVE The Rehabilitation Therapist is a treatment team member who is responsible for providing care to meet the physical and psychological needs of residents by providing direct and indirect services in a manner consistent with Rehabilitation and Recovery principles. The Rehabilitation Therapist provides rehabilitation therapy and socialization activities to residents that will enhance their abilities to live independently in the community and decrease dependence on institutional living.
Skill Requirements
-B.S./B.A. from an accredited school is required -One year of experience in an inpatient psychiatric setting is required -M.S./M.A. in Occupational, Recreational, Music, Dance, Drama or Art Therapy or Vocational Counseling is preferred -Must have belief in individual’s ability to recover from disabling mental illness. Knowledge of basic psychiatric rehabilitation interventions is essential. -Good communication skills and a desire to work with mentally impaired adults are crucial -Eighteen years of age and have strong communication skills (written/oral) -CPR certification and negative TB screen are required -Valid driver's license and insurability may be required -Criminal background clearance and education verification are required
